One day I put Myah on our bed and she immediately started rolling all the way down and off the bed. Of course I was there to catch her, but she thought it was pretty funny! So this is her new trick.

Fruitless Vegetable
Have you ever eaten an artichoke? It's definitely an experience to experience! I got a couple of them from the Bountiful Basket (produce co-op) I get. I'm telling ya, it's a fun veggie to cook and eat if you have A LOT of time and good company to eat it with! To be honest though, I'm not a huge fan of it. I don't really like the taste, the labor it takes to eat it, and the amount of food you get from this big veggie. It's seriously kind of ridiculous how little edible artichoke you get! I steamed the 2 artichokes with lemon and garlic for about an hour and then Myah and I went to work! (Justin didn't like it at all.)
Myah LOVED it and was really good at biting/scraping down to get the little meat on the end of each leaf.
Here's our heaping plate of leaves after we ate the meat on them.
When you take all the leaves off, you're left with hair that you have to scrape off in order to get to the most edible part!
After scooping off the hair (which I think is hilarious!), the artichoke heart is revealed! Too bad I didn't have any spinach so I could have made spinach-artichoke dip!
Even though I didn't like the taste too much, Myah and I had a fun time eating it together!

Hand cast...not that kind of cast!
On Mother's Day we did a hand cast of Myah's hand so that we can always have a replica of her little hand at this size. Justin's mom, Julie, had a kit to make it. We did it twice. The first time Myah did great. The second time Myah didn't think it was as fun the whole time and of course that was when we had Aunt Katie take pictures for us. Julie made the form liquid and then Myah had to put her hand in it till it hardened into rubber.
Justin had to wrestle with Myah's hand to keep it from touching the side of the cup. It's amazing how strong a baby is!
She didn't think it was fun at this point.
"Ah, a stick to distract me!" Thanks goodness for sticks!
When the rubbery form hardened, we took out Myah's hand then filled the form with the cast liquid. The next day we took off the rubbery form and this is what we were left with: Myah's cute 9.5 month old hand.
What a great keepsake. Thanks Julie!
Mother's Day
Mother's Day was a very busy day running back and forth from family to church and back. It was a busy, but good first Mother's Day for me! We started out the day stopping to see my mom for a few minutes then went to Justin's parents to talk/Skype with Justin's brother, Tyler, who's on an LDS mission is Uruguay. It was so fun to see him!

| Myah loved Porter's hair...she's a little jealous! (Thanks Rachel for letting me use these 2 pictures!) |
Then we went to our church where Justin and I had a lot of stuff to do so Justin's sister, Sarah, came with us to hold Myah...which made it sooo much easier for us. After church we went back to the Calder's for dinner. We ate outside and Myah had a great time playing afterwards. We got some great pictures!

Justin (and Myah) was so sweet and got me a dozen roses (plus I got some white ones from church), a card, and the best chocolate...Dove chocolate! I'm pretty much half-way done with the bag already. We'll be celebrating Mother's Day for my mom in a couple weeks, so stay tuned for those pictures!

Cruising
Myah has started cruising along the couch now. Maybe she'll be skipping the crawling stage all together.

Bathtub-tipping!
You may have heard of cow-tipping. Well this is Myah's new trick that I like to call "bathtub-tipping!"

Turning
Myah is in a dilemma: she wants to crawl extremely bad...but she can't figure it out. She loves holding phones and ipods so we'll put it just out of her reach to give her incentive to try to drag herself to it. She'll kick her legs, go up and down on her arms (like push-ups), and then start to scream in frustration.
She has learned to turn around on her belly though. She's pretty good at it too! We'll keep working on the crawling situation! But here are some pictures I took while she was turning around.
I LOVE these chunky legs and bum!
