Sickness

I have been sick for the past couple months. It's not very fun but at least I know why I'm so nauseous all day...I'm pregnant! I'm 10 weeks along, but like last pregnancy, it's been hard to keep it a secret very long because I've felt so sick. So this baby will be due the end of May. We're excited!

Snow!

Myah and I went outside during the snow storm last week. She didn't know what to think! It took her a while to warm up to it. Not that she cried or anything, she was just very confused as to what this white stuff was falling from the sky!
First she just stood and looked at it for a while.
Then she took handfulls off the railing and looked at it.
When she decided she liked it, her hands were freezing so I put my gloves on her.
She also paused when she took her first step in the slush. It was pretty hilarious for me to watch (and photgraph/video) this process of discovery!

Cold weather calls for...crotcheting

The other day I found that Myah has outgrown all of her warm hats. I decided to make her a few, but as I was about to get crotcheting, I realized I'd forgotten how to! So instead of starting on a hat, I decided to start by making her a matching scarf (a scarf is much easier than a hat). I re-figured out how to crochet with the scarf and then moved on to the hat. I like how they turned out.
That night was the presidential debate. While watching, I got annoyed of Pres. Obama and decided to make Myah another hat so I didn't feel like I was wasting my time. It was much easier the second time around!
Myah liked them but only enough to play with them in the laundry basket...not wear. Today I got her to wear the hat for a little bit outside. She makes it look very cute!

Black Island Farms

Last week we went to a farm in Syracuse. We went last year when Myah was 3 months old and we knew we wanted to go again this year. There were lots of things for kids to do...though Myah wasn't that in to it for some reason. It was still fun though. We saw animals, played on slides and other things, went on a mini train ride, and through the corn maze.

My little obsession

I love sharp knives; just for making meals...nothing scary! I like to cook, but I think the main reason I love it is because I get to chop up veggies and such! My favorite thing to make is stir-fry with chicken or sausage and lots of veggies because I get to grab a nice cutting board and my favorite butcher's knife and chop, chop, chop. I must say, I'm pretty good because it's so sharp! Here she is:
My beloved knife
I have two knife blocks full of knives, plus part of a drawer full. I don't need anymore, but the other day at Walmart, they had a demo man there giving a promotion for a set of Forever Sharp knives that will never dull! I watched his demo and then tried them out and I was sucked in...so I bought a set.
More to add to my collection. I guess I can throw out my dull knives I never use. The next night Justin and I used the steak knives for our roast and veggies (which of course I used my butcher's knife to chop before putting them in the crock-pot), and with each cut we'd oooh and awww! They sliced without any effort! It's nice to have sharp knives you can depend on!

Miss Myah

Here are some random pics mostly of Myah from the past few weeks:
 She's wearing pj's I wore when I was a baby!
I love that she's making the same face as me in the first picture! She's modeling her adorable, new-ish coat (a present when I was pregnant with her).

For the LDS General Conference a few weeks ago we spent a session at the Tew's and then the Calder's. We forgot the camera for the Calder's sessions though.
Myah learned how to climb up the steps...
...and sort of go down the slide...doing the splits!

She had a grand time playing!

Myah has always liked my keyboard, but she's especially interested in it now that she's bigger! It's hilarious to watch her dance, sing, and push buttons.

Allergy update

Well, we've finally made it through eliminating one of Justin's allergies at a time to see what the reaction was to it after he ate it again. Some were definitely tougher than others...the thoughest ones were corn and soy. They are in everything! Corn was the hardest though. Because Justin was still eating the other six allergens all the time, he still always felt sick, but it was interesting to see how his body reacted when he reintroduced the allergen back in. Peanuts made his throat almost close up, so it's the most crucial one for him not to eat (which isn't a big deal because he rarely eats anything with peanuts in it anyway). I think he said the other ones that he got the worst reactions after peanuts were wheat, milk, and corn.
Our plan of action now is for Justin to go a whole week without eating any of the allergens to see if he will actually feel good for once. Keep your fingers crossed! Then we'll introduce the allergens one at a time, starting with the ones he didn't seem to have much reaction to first. We are going to start that intense diet on Monday. It's going to be difficult, but I think we'll be surprised with all he CAN eat, especially with the products that are out there now. He CAN have meats, rice, fruits, veggies, and homemade stuff that I can monitor all the ingredients. It was interesting for me to see what's out there and get creative with his diet. Due to my health and nutrition background and the fact that I like to cook and bake, this challenge is actually pretty exciting for me!
So like I said, keep your fingers crossed and your prayers coming that this will work for Justin and he can finally feel good! Here we go!

Rain boots

Myah's new favorite accessory...over-sized rain boots! She likes to just stand in them and clap. They come up to her crotch and she can't do anything but stand in them. After a while she'll step out of the boots and then immediately start whining to get back in.
 She always keeps us laughing!

Muler Park

Sunday after church we went on a drive to find some pretty leaves. We ended up at Muler Park in Bountiful...and so did everyone else and their dog (literally, Myah was in heaven because there were so many dogs there!). It was pretty but would have been better earlier in the day with more sun.
