State Fair

Thanks to Justin's brother Tyler who gave us tickets, we went to the State Fair last Saturday! Myah loved the animals! She's very into animals now. (Side note: a few days ago we went outside and she saw 2 dogs. When she first saw each of them, she immediately started waving with all her might and tried to follow them!) Needless to say, we had a good time!

If you look closely at Myah, you'll see she's doing her version of moo-ing.

 

As you can tell, Myah was stunned to hear the cows moo-ing so loud!

 This cow was almost 3,000 lbs!

 We stayed for the Olympian High Divers show...so glad we did. It was fun and amazing!

Then we got snow cones to finish off. Myah couldn't get enough!



Proud owners

 We are now the proud owners of our first gun! We've been wanting to get one for a while, so Justin researched and picked out the one he wanted, then we went to Impact Guns where you can test shoot it before you buy. We both fell in love with our 9mm!

On a totally different note, later that night, after we'd eaten dinner, Justin and I were doing dishes when we looked over and saw Myah had a perfect lettuce goatie! She pulls it off!

The Hogle Zoo!!!

 We went to the Hogle Zoo last Friday and Myah's face in the above picture says it all! She loved it and was so excited to see everything. Everything about it was so fun! We especially loved the bird show and Rocky Shores. Let me tell you, the Zoo has come a long way from when I was a child!

The show was amazing. Birds flew right over our heads...their wings literally touch us! Great tricks too! 



 Rocky Shores had seals, otters, a polar bear. The polar bear was our favorite! Make sure to watch the video below.

Here were Myah's three favorite things at the Zoo:

 1. The Caution signs in the reptile house (oddly enough)

 2. The log at the Otter exhibit

3. The world with water flowing over it

All of these things she cried over when it was time to move on!



Allergy testing

 

Justin went to a few doctor appointments last week. One of them was for allergy testing. As you can see, they tested him on both arms for 17 different foods. So he was poked tons of times! I probably would have passed out! Well, it ends up that he's allergic to 7 of the items tested...can you guess what they are???

He's allergic to:

Wheat

Eggs

Corn

Milk

Peanuts

Soy

Cocoa

So pretty much everything he eats has at least one of those ingredients in it! This month we are figuring out how sick each of those foods make him so we can determine which things he should cut out of his diet and which things he's ok to eat occasionally. He doesn't break out in hives or anything you can see. He just always feels very sick to his stomach, gets sore throats, headaches, and that kind of fun stuff. It would be amazing for him not to feel sick everyday.

I will be doing a lot of researching what flours and things I can buy so I can make him food he can eat and not feel sick after eating. After we get this figured out, we'll see if his chest pain goes away. If not then we'll go back to a specialist to see if they can find anything else.

 

To tell you the truth, Justin and I have been feeling very jealous of most other couples who have had things go the way they planned and wanted. It's hard to see most people having a lot of success in their endeavors and then see things going downhill for us. It's hard to understand why J's lung collapsed twice and because of that, he couldn't keep his pilot slot for Marines. It's hard to see our dream of Justin flying and fighting for our wonderful country down the drain. It's hard to see Justin sick all the time and not finding many answers why. And the list goes on. It's something we really have to work on because I know the Lord is not punishing us or anything. I know he loves us because he has blessed us with so much during our trials and though some of our hopes and dreams have been dashed, we are both still alive and we have such a sweet daughter who has brought more happiness into our lives. We have been greatly blessed financially through all the hospital/medical bills. Justin has a good job and will hopefully find one in his field soon. There is so much to be thankful for!

So though it may be difficult to hear all the common things Justin is allergic to, we are VERY grateful that we finally have hope that he won't be sick all the time. This is the best news we've gotten for a long time, at least medically!

 About a month ago we finally installed the cabinet safety catches so Myah will stop getting into the dangerous stuff. She enjoyed helping daddy with the drill!

 Yesterday we came out of our church building to find this dragon (named Starz, as we found out)randomly walking around the neighborhood! Myah immediately started walking very excitedly towards him and absolutely loved him! When Starz left, Justin and I got talking with some friends and soon noticed Myah was still walking after Starz! ...so I had to run and get her.

 Mmm....I made these and brought them to a family reunion. They were gone in like 10 seconds.

Justin and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on Sept. 5th. He made me this display case and everyday writes a new reason he loves me. I love it so much and was so proud of him for making this beautiful gift...there were definitely tears of joy!

It's funny now...

On Tuesday I was finishing up cooking dinner. I had some food on the stove and in the oven. When it was done, I grabbed the garlic bread out of the oven as well as a casserole and put both of them on the stove. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room for everything on the stove and so the glass pan with my casserole in it dropped to the floor...onto my foot. First off, OUCH! I moved my foot so fast after it landed that it didn't get burned, but the weight of the dish all landed on my foot. Second, ARGH! I'd just spent about an hour making dinner all to have the main dish fall on the floor! I wanted to throw something, so I threw what I was holding...which happened to be two light-weight oven mits. But then I immediately picked them up because our floor was gross from Myah's earlier playing and I didn't want Myah to pick them up and get more dirty. (I'm a very rational person, even when I'm extremely angry, apparently!) It was a pretty wimpy show of anger and it's funny now that I think about it! I should have punched a wall! Justin witnessed the whole thing and I'm amazed he didn't laugh at the sight of my "angry outburst!"

Justin was so nice to clean it up while I went to our room to be upset and cry. Myah would come check on me a few times and give me hugs and then when Justin came and got me, we went and ate dinner while he informed me of the good news. He told me the glass dish didn't break; only my foot! And he told me that not that much of dinner spilled on the floor and he was able to pick it all up...onto his plate...and he was going to eat it! Due to my hair shedding so much, he had to pick out a ton of hairs, but he ate it even though I told him to throw it away. Now that's love...or hunger...or both!

We went to the doctor yesterday for Justin, and the doctor noticed my old man cane I was using (thanks for letting me borrow it dad!) and looked at my foot. I got a few x-rays and it's not broken. It was pretty swollen and bruised some but it's going down and I can walk better and better every day. Needless-to-say, the doctor, nurse, and x-ray tech all said, "so...it says you dropped a pan on your foot?" as a smile would come across their face. I guess it was pretty hilarious!
