Scary moment

Last night Myah had a hard time going to sleep, so I finally brought her out of her room. Justin and I were looking at her and then I noticed her right ear. This is what I saw!
Myah loves to grab her ears, but when she does, she ends up scratching them. I guess she scratched a lot...hence the bloody mess! It was scary trying to see if it was coming from inside her ear or just from scratches. I cleaned it up and saw it was just from scratches. Then we decided to put socks on her hands when she sleeps. We used to do that, but it seems we need to do it again!

Bananas

I think I will eventually stop posting pictures of Myah every time she eats a new food, but we just get the best pictures that I have to share them! This was her first encounter with bananas. She did actually like them a lot. But I thought this sequence of pictures showed her first thoughts of bananas well.

Love of motherhood

Let me just say, I love being a mom! I think it's amazing that we are blessed with fresh, newborn babies and we get to see them soak everything in like sponge. It's been so amazing to see Myah learn all that she has: from learning how to nurse, to eating off a spoon. From learning how to control her limbs better, to rolling over. It's been so amazing and I know there's only more to come. I love it! Justin and I are amazed at this process.
Myah loves this old Vitamin D drop bottle. The top is squeezable and she loves chewing/sucking on it. One of her favorite toys! I think it's hilarious to see her hold it on her own!

Carrots

Well, Myah liked carrots better than avocado...but of course she still thought they were kind of weird! She warmed up to them a little as I kept feeding them to her during this week. I'll tell you what though, she LOVES her rice cereal. I just can't get the spoon into her mouth fast enough!
Isn't this a great picture! I think her face says it all.
"Finally, I'm done with this orange stuff!"

Avocado...not a fan!

We fed Myah some avocado as her first real food (excluding rice cereal) because I had some on-hand. You can tell from the pictures that she did not like it! I fed it to her for a few days and each time she'd take a bite, she'd shiver and gag. She'd open her mouth for more bites though. I thought she'd get used to it, but she thought it was nasty. Justin doesn't blame her (he doesn't like it either)!

It's as if she's pleading with Justin to save her...sad!

Myah's milestones

Myah has reached some great milestones in the past week. First, we started feeding her her first solid food...rice cereal. It's a hit! I try to give her a little bit every day and she does really well with it. I've been feeding it to her for a week now and today when I fed her, she remember the whole spoon-in-mouth thing really well! I love feeding her and seeing her cute faces!
The other thing is that she's rolling over from her tummy now. She rolled over for the first time last Tuesday (Dec. 27th). What a big girl she's turning in to!
Of course I have to throw in some bath pictures! She really likes her baths...especially when there's a wash cloth or rubber ducky to suck on!

Our Christmas

We had a great Christmas weekend. It was extremely busy and felt like we needed a vacation from our Christmas vacation...but it was very fun nonetheless. Here's how it went:
FRIDAY:
We went over to the Tews for our huge Christmas family bash. Seriously, we go from one game to the next and barely have time to eat! It's really fun though! We always play memory (with pictures from our family), bingo with prizes everyone brings, the candy-bar game, white elephant gifts, and I feel like I'm forgetting another one! It's always a blast!

Here are my dad, Mabel, and Myah all looking at the ceiling fan!
All of the grandkids.
The crew trying to get all the grandkids to smile!
My sister twisted Myah's hair into two little horns (look closely)! It was pretty hilarious!

SATURDAY MORNING:
We celebrated our Christmas Saturday morning. It was fun to see what Myah thought about the wrapping paper and everything. She was more alert about it than I thought she'd be!
(You can see Myah holding on to one of her presents in her stocking! Cute!)
Playing with her new ring stacker.
Justin with the Gadsden flag Santa brought him!

SATURDAY AFTERNOON:
We went over to the Calders to celebrate with them. We played some rock band and rocked our socks off! We also ate dinner and opened presents.
Myah's first doll from her Nana and Papa!
Noah army-crawled his way over to Myah and started playing with her arm and hand...she wasn't so sure about it!

SUNDAY:
I played the piano for our ward choir for the Christmas program, so I had to practice with them in the morning and then had our Sacrament meeting. After church we went over the the Calders again to talk to Elder Tyler Calder (Justin's brother serving his LDS mission in Uraguay). We ended up staying longer and stayed for an early dinner. Justin's Nana, Papa, Uncle Scott, Aunt Jeni, and cousin Alyson were there too. After dinner we went to the Tews for a little bit before going over to my Grandpa Tew's house where we were going to see my cousins I rarely see on my dad's side and eat dinner.
The girl cousins on my dad's side.

What a fun Christmas weekend! I love this time of year. What a great Christmas season to remember what matters most and that our Savior was born.
