Justin's Involuntary Habit

Justin and I live pretty close to Hill Air Force Base, so therefore, we are right under their fly zone and we constantly hear the jets flying over. Anyone who knows Justin knows that he grew up on or around Air Force Bases due to his dad being in the Air Force and so he has an intense love of airplanes/jets. He actually went through the whole testing process a few years ago and got a pilot slot in the Marines. He was so excited that he was going to be living his dream of flying and serving in the US Military. Sadly, his lung collapsed twice within 7 months so he was disqualified from serving in any branch of the military. Still, Justin's love of planes is so deep within him that any time he is home and hears the slightest noise of a plane flying overhead, he automatically jumps up from wherever he is and runs to our second bedroom to look out the window (as seen in the pictures) or runs outside, depending on the weather. The blinds are always left up in the bedroom because he runs in so often. I think it's hilarious because he already knows what plane it is without seeing it! He's studied them and seen them all millions of times...yet he still has to see it each time! He tells me it's an involuntary habit that just happens without even thinking about it! Cute Justin!

Parents Retiring

My dad is a seminary teacher, and has been for the past 35 years. My mom is a pre-school teacher, and has been for the past 20 years. This year they are retiring and I can't believe it! My family went to my dad's retirement/award celebration with the CES (Church Education System) in this district last Friday night and it was so wonderful to honor he and my mom for their hard work in the CES. My siblings and I were able to sing a song my sister wrote for my dad's 60th b-day in April and then I also played a piano piece. It was fun to hear my parents speak and actually let it sink in that they will be done teaching soon! My mom will be done this week with her pre-school graduations and my dad will be done teaching the first part of June and then will retire in July.

My parents are wonderful people and have taught me so much. I know they've made a huge difference in their students' lives and I'm glad that I was able to have both of them as teachers! My mom taught me as a pre-schooler (I was in her first class!) and I had my dad as a seminary teacher when I was in the 9th grade. Both are so great! Congrats mom and dad!

Mother's Day

 


 

Mother's Day was on Sunday and Justin got me this beautiful flower plant and a card...which was so sweet. When we looked closer we found it is a cactus plant!

 

After church we went to the Calder's house and got to call Justin's brother Tyler who's on a mission in Uraguay. It was so great to hear his voice and talk to him! He sounds like he's doing very well!

Baby Shower!

On Saturday my side of the family had a combined baby shower for me and my sister-in-law, Jessica. We are both having baby girls. The girls in my famly did such a great job decorating, making delicious food, and making it a really fun time! They are so great! The first pic shows the Tew girls-mom, me, and Kristy. The second is Me and Jess showing our bellies! She's due May 27th! And the third pic of course shows the delicous food...yum!

Easter Pics

 

I told you a few posts ago that I love Easter. Here are a few pictures from our Easter celebration on the Tew side. The first one shows the grandkids (and my brother who snuck in the picture) right before their Easter egg hunt. The next one is the adults right before our mini Easter egg hunt. Can you tell that I was excited?!

Great Day!

Justin and I had a GREAT day today! First of all, Justin got a job!! He'll be working for the state mail department and will be working the morning shift for the first 3 month trial period, so he'll be working from 3 am to 12:30 pm from Monday through Thursday and then a shorter shift on Friday. It will be interesting getting used to the sleeping pattern, but we think this will work great with his schooling. We are really excited about it!

The next great thing is that we went to a couple appointments for the baby...which is always exciting! I had my glucose blood test (which wow...that drink was crazy with glucose and I'm glad it's over) and then saw my midwife. She said everything was looking great! A little bit later I had an appointment for another Targeted Ultrasound since at the last one our baby wasn't in a good position and the tech couldn't get all the measurements. This one went really well and the tech kept saying that everything looked great and beautiful. Both my midwife and the ultrasound tech got a good shot between her legs and said that our baby's definitely a girl! We knew it the whole time, but it's always good to hear more confidence in the gender from professionals!

Easter is on the way!

I love Easter! I love everything about it...easter egg hunts, coloring eggs, decorating goodies, the warmer weather (which will hopefully come), being with family, and of course the celebration of Christ's resurrection. I always feel like a kid around Easter because usually these activities are centered around the grandkids and I always want to be included right along with them. What can I say, I am a kid at heart...especially when it comes to Easter! I am so excited for next year when we can celebrate this holiday with our little girl! I already asked Justin if I can be the one to help her find the eggs and he can hide them...he agreed.

I will be teaching the Relief Society lesson this Easter Sunday...which I was just asked today (3 days before). I won't have much time to prepare because I am working and am also busy with many other things, but I enjoy teaching RS so of course I said I would. Plus it's Easter, so it will be a good day either way!
